Professor Dan Hoofien is a certified rehabilitation and medical psychologist and a supervisor. Professor Hoofien served as a faculty member at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, department of psychology from 1994 until his retirement in 2014.


During these years he taught and supervised graduate students in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation. His research topics focused on post TBI neuropsychological and emotional deficits, neuropsychological rehabilitation, and functions of the frontal lobes. Between 2002-2006 he headed the graduate program in clinical neuropsychology. Since 2013 he serves as faculty at the Israeli Academic College.


Throughout his entire professional career Professor Hoofien was involved in neuropsychological rehabilitation of persons with ABI. Between 1978 and 2014 he served as the director of The National Institute for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured’ in Israel. Since his retirement, he continues to be involved in the institute's work as a scientific and research consultant.


He also served as secretary (elected) of the Israeli Psychological Association (1997-2000); chairman (elected) of the Israeli Neuropsychological Society (1999-2002); and chair (nominated) of the professional committee of rehabilitation psychology, Ministry of Health (2002-2008). In 2014 Professor Hoofien was awarded the “Distinguished Career Award” by the International Neuropsychological Society, and in 2016 he was the recipient of the "Life Achievement Award" by the Israeli Psychologists' Association, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology.
